What can work online
Parent coaching, language intervention, many speech-sound goals, fluency support and AAC consultation may work well virtually. We discuss whether online, in-person or a blended approach best fits the situation.
What you need
A stable internet connection, a device with camera and microphone, and a reasonably quiet space are helpful. Younger children often benefit from an adult joining the session and having a few familiar toys nearby.
Flexible family participation
Virtual appointments can make it easier for multiple caregivers to attend, reduce travel and let the clinician see communication within the home environment.
What happens first
We begin by learning about the concern, the child’s strengths, relevant history and the situations where communication is easiest or hardest. Recommendations are individualized after that conversation or assessment.
